It was in the Porto and in the northern regions that Portugal was founded in the 12th century, and the Portuguese became a people and a nation. Porto, a World Heritage city, is the gateway and departure point for a journey across the natural and cultural diversity of the region. It is known for the Port wine, which is shipped from here all over the world, but also for a heritage that combines ancient churches and monuments, such as the Cathedral and the Church of São Francisco, and modern buildings, such as Casa da Música and the Serralves Museum. It is also known for its School of Architecture, which bred names like Álvaro Siza Vieira and Eduardo Souto de Moura, both winners of the Pritzker Prize. From “francesinhas” to seafood and wine, Porto is the perfect place for a foodie. The options are limitless.

Located just south of Porto across the Douro river, Vila Nova de Gaia (simply known as 'Gaia' to locals), offers easy access to port cellars, gardens, and beautiful views. Rich history and culture make up why Gaia is such a special place. From the Stock Exchange Palace to the beautiful cathedrals, there is so much history to take in. Take a ride on a cable car, walk the Dom Luis bridge, visit the hilltop park Jardim do Morro, or explore the many museums and beaches. For the adventurous, take a kayak or stand-up paddling tour or bike along the Douro. Enjoy all the sites of this fishing village or bird watch at a nature reserve. And don't miss a ride on the Gaia cable car at sunset to get a view of the Douro River and Porto!

Hilton Porto Gaia

Hilton Porto Gaia is a beautiful hotel, housed in a refurbished wine warehouse just a short walk to the Douro River and a 15-20 minute walk to the Porto city center. Hilton Porto Gaia is located near many port wine cellars, Arrabida shopping center, monuments, museums, and the stock exchange palace.

Hilton Porto Gaia offers a Wellness Center and Spa with treatments to help you relax after a long day of exploring, plus steam baths, an indoor pool, and fitness center. When it's time to dine, sample traditional Portuguese flavors made with fresh, local products in the Terrace restaurant or cocktails in the relaxed and modern Composto restaurant. The panoramic bar, Magma, overlooks the Douro River and Porto and offers a carefully selected wine and champagne list.

Hilton Porto Gaia guest rooms offer 1 king or 2 twin beds (based on hotel availability), flat screen HDTV, tea/coffee maker, mini-bar, safe, iron/board, hair dryer, air conditioning, and more.

Hilton Porto Gaia is located approximately 10 miles (17 Kilometers) away from Francisco Sa Carneiro Airport (Pedras Rubras) (OPO). Self-parking is available at 25€ per day with in/out privileges; Valet is 25€ per day. Parking fees are subject to change without notice. Getting around in Porto and Gaia is fairly easy. You can walk most places, but you also have access to efficient public transportation, including train, tram, and bus. 

DEPOSIT REQUIRED

Credit Card for 1 night's deposit plus tax required at time of booking to hold your room. Approximately 30 days prior to arrival, the hotel will automatically change the remaining amount for entire stay plus tax to your credit card. Checks not accepted due to exchange rates.

CANCELLATIONS

Cancellations of room reservations accepted by hotel without penalty prior to 31 days of arrival. Cancellations of room reservations received by hotel inside 31 days of arrival will forfeit your entire reserved stay plus tax and any mandatory fees (if applicable). If you check out of the hotel before your scheduled departure date or are a complete no-show, you will be charged a penalty up to your entire reserved stay plus tax and any mandatory fees (if applicable). Firm hotel policy - no exceptions for any reasons including weather, travel, or health-related cancellations. Please review your reservation for accuracy. Travel insurance is highly recommended.

*Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists: This program is designed to meet requirements for MAC Ed CE credit. Once approved by AANA, this will be indicated.

Nurse Practitioners: The American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Certification Board (AANPCB) and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) accept CME from organizations accredited by the ACCME.

Osteopathic Physicians: This program is eligible for Category 2 credit with the American Osteopathic Association (AOA).

Physician Associates/Assistants: PAs may claim a maximum of 20 Category 1 credits for completing this activity. NCCPA accepts AMA PRA Category 1 Credit^™ from organizations accredited by ACCME or a recognized state medical society.

Physician Maintenance of Certification (MOC): Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the participant to earn up to 20 MOC points in the American Board of Internal Medicine’s (ABIM), American Board of Pathology (ABPath), American Board of Pediatrics (ABP – only when applicable to individual program), American Board of Surgery (ABS), and the American Board of Thoracic Surgery (ABTS) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) programs. It is the CME activity provider’s responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting MOC credit.

This course is designed for physicians, certified registered nurse anesthetists, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, registered nurses and other medical care providers who must maintain state-of-the-art knowledge of the anesthesia specialty or are impacted by it.

Program Purpose

This continuing education program is designed for anesthesia providers seeking to enhance their clinical skills and knowledge in the field. The program aims to provide attendees with the latest updates, innovations, and practical techniques to advance their anesthesia practice. Through a combination of lectures, case studies, and discussion with faculty/peers, participants will gain valuable insights and skills to help in the provision of safe, effective anesthesia care. 

Objectives

• Improve knowledge, competence, and utilization of the most recent evidence-based clinical practice guidelines.
• Bolster competence in the management of patients with complex co-morbidities and less common medical conditions, thereby improving patient outcomes and safety.
  
• Improve skills/strategies in the use of newer equipment/technologies and improve performance within multidisciplinary protocols in order to optimize patient outcomes.
• Increase knowledge of newer pharmacologic agents, thereby improving competence in medication management via anticipation of potential polypharmacy interactions.
• Improve knowledge and competence in the timely recognition and management of complications during the perioperative period. By enhancing competence, patient outcomes improve by reducing complications.
• Enhance recognition and coping strategies to mitigate the effects of workplace stressors and burnout and achieve well-being in the clinical setting.
• Improve knowledge and competence in the provision of anesthesia care outside of the operating room.

We reserve the right to cancel a course for any reason. In such case, a minimum of 30 days notice will be given to those registered and 100% of tuition paid will be refunded. NWAS and NWWT will not be responsible for any non-refundable airfare, hotel, or other liabilities you may incur. We highly recommend purchase of travel insurance. Travel at your own risk.
